Needlework Project

I've started a new needlework project.  Typically I do cross stitch so I thought it would be interesting to try something new.  I've bought a painted canvas and some really beautiful thread that's a combination of silk and wool.  I also bought a great book from amazon called Stitch Sampler.  Its got something like 200 styles of stitches to use.  I had a bit of trouble at first picking out the right stitches for the size of my piece, but I think I've got a handle on it now. As work progresses I'll put up a couple of pictures.  I'm planning to use a combination of beadwork, gold thread couching and stiches from my new book to finish this piece.  As usual I have no idea what to do with after I'm done so it'll probably just go into the box o' finished projects until someone mentions they'd like to have it.

Finally!

Its been a busy late spring/early summer for me.  A couple weeks ago my sister and I returned from a trip through Italy and Germany.  As soon as my sister sends me pictures I'll be posting about that trip.  It was lots of fun, but I was really glad to be home and sleeping in my own bed.

I am quite proud of myself today.  After struggling with my writing for quite awhile I managed to edit (yet again) one of the first fantasy stories I completed back in college.  I've been throwing it against the wall for awhile but its an odd combination of classic fantasy and literary that doesn't seem to work for any of the publications I've sent it to.  The rejection I keep getting back is along the lines of "the writing is great, but it just doesn't work for me".  Instead of giving up I keep reworking and sending it back out.  We'll see if my lastest edit and submission pays off.

Now I just need to finish edits on Lord of the Abandoned and get that out there.
